ADMISSION GUIDELINES FOR FOREIGNERS
1. Purpose
This document provides detailed instructions on the admission process, procedures, and conditions for foreigners who wish to study at Can Tho University (CTU). These guidelines aim to ensure consistency and transparency in receiving applications, while supporting candidates in completing administrative procedures in accordance with Vietnamese law and the University's training regulations.
2. Admission Conditions
2.1 Academic and Professional Requirements
a) International students entering the Practice High School of Pedagogy are accepted according to the Regulations of High Schools.
b) International students entering degree programs (Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD) must have a graduation diploma at least equivalent to a Vietnamese diploma as prescribed by Vietnamese law or international treaties to which Vietnam and the sending country are members.
c) International students entering professional training or specialized courses must meet the conditions and standards agreed upon between CTU and the sending party or as stated in the signed training contract.
d) International students coming for study, research, internship, or exchange must meet the academic requirements of CTU and must have a recommendation letter from a partner institution/university.
e) International students entering "talent" majors (culture, arts, architecture, sports, pedagogy) must meet the general conditions and pass specific talent exams or tests required by CTU and the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) of Vietnam.
f) Additionally, students must meet all criteria agreed upon in training contracts between CTU and the sending organization or individual.
2.2 Health and Age Requirements
a) Degree-seeking students must be in good health to study in Vietnam. When applying, students must submit a Health Certificate issued by a competent medical authority in the sending country or a provincial-level hospital in Vietnam, issued no more than 3 months prior to the application date. Upon arrival, students will be re-examined; if they have dangerous infectious diseases or are not healthy enough to study, they will not be admitted and must return home. Other student types are not required to submit a health certificate.
b) Age requirements for "National Agreement between Viet Nam and partner countries" students follow international treaties. There is no age limit for students outside of these agreements.
3. Application Documents
3.1 Degree-seeking Students
Applications must be in Vietnamese or English, including:
a) Application form;
b) Certified/notarized copies and translations of diplomas and academic results (with consular legalization);
c) Scientific Curriculum Vitae;
d) Health Certificate (valid within 3 months);
e) Valid Vietnamese or English language proficiency certificates (meeting the entry standards of CTU);
f) Research proposal (for postgraduate students);
g) Four (04) 4x6 cm portrait photos (taken within the last 3 months);
h) Financial proof for the entire course, scholarship documents, or personal financial statements;
i) Recommendation letter from the sending unit, organization, or individual;
j) Passport copy (valid for at least 6 months from the expected arrival date);
k) Other related documents as required by specific programs.
3.2 Professional Training and Exchange Students
Applications must be in Vietnamese or English, including:
a) Application form;
b) Research proposal or description of study content at CTU;
c) Recommendation letter from the sending unit, organization, or individual;
d) Academic transcripts;
e) Proof of Vietnamese or foreign language proficiency;
f) Other evidence as required by specific programs.
4. Application Process

4.2 Results: After evaluation, the Center will notify candidates of the admission results and the appropriate enrollment time.
5. Enrollment Process
5.1 Confirmation: Successful candidates confirm their intent to study and complete enrollment documents as requested.
5.2 Fee Payment: Candidates pay registration and tuition fees via CTU’s bank account or at the Planning and Finance Department within 10 working days of the admission decision.
5.3 Visa: Students must have a valid visa for the correct purpose (study). CTU will support visa procedures if needed, but candidates must pay the visa fees.
5.5 Residency Declaration: Upon arrival, students must declare their temporary residence with local authorities, whether staying inside or outside the university. The Department of Student Affairs will provide guidance on these procedures.
